![]() It sounded like a terrible, jarring departure from the Electric Six I know and love. ![]() I was immediately thrown into a sense of worry and unease as I listened to the opening chords. Mustang explodes out of the speakers in a burst of heavy metal, punk, funk, hard rock, prog rock, black metal, disco, dance pop, and I’m having a very hard time focusing on writing this review because I’m trying not to dance a lot. There’s quite a few! You see, Electric Six were only getting started with Fire, and if the recently-released Mustang is any indication, they’ve no intention of finishing up anytime soon. Get yourself to Last FM or YouTube or Spotify or what have you, and listen to every other Electric Six album. ![]() Trigger warning: single mention of rape in the last paragraph (discussion of lyrics)įor those of who who’ve only heard “Danger! High Voltage” and “Gay Bar” (both from Electric Six’s debut album Fire), I’m going to tell you to stop right here and do yourself a favour.
